Regency Era Gowns

How Bridgerton Celebs Would Slay in the Current Era

Most of you guys who are visiting this blog must have watched Bridgerton. For those, who are not aware, Bridgerton is a Netflix series produced by Shonda Rhimes and it’s an adaptation of the novels written by Julia Quinn. Set in Regency-era London, the series follows the lives, loves, and scandals of the affluent Bridgerton family as they navigate high society’s marriage market. If you haven’t watched it yet, and you love drama, then I would definitely recommend you to watch that series.

Apart from the storyline, most of the Bridgerton lovers are fascinated by the opulent costumes, grand settings, and music. I’ve grown to like some of the major characters in this series such as Queen Charlotte, Penelope Featherington, and Eloise Bridgerton. Recently, Netflix has released Bridgerton S3 and it has captured massive eyeballs among OTT viewers. In this blog, I’m going to style those characters as per the current era.

All these pieces are available on Amazon and you can follow the link to purchase something if you want to put together a look. These looks will work great from a brunch date out with friends to a date night from a graduation ceremony to a party.

Daphne Bridgerton

Daphne’s wardrobe in “Bridgerton” reflects her elegant and sophisticated nature. She often wears delicate, pastel-colored gowns with intricate lace and embroidery, symbolizing her purity and high status. Being a Bridgerton, she mostly adapts to the pastel blue or gray shades. Post her marriage with the Duke though, she adapts to the lavender color palette. She resonates with timeless, regal and elegant looks.

Kate Sharma

Known for her strong-willed and independent nature, Kate is intelligent, fiercely protective of her family, and unapologetic. She’s bold and witty and a true representation of modern women. Her aesthetics were able to capture that well through deep bold colors along with a reflection of her Indian heritage. She often wears dresses in deep blues, purples, and greens, adorned with intricate embroidery and embellishments.

Eloise Bridgerton

My favorite character in the show not just because of her personality which is witty and independent-spirited, but also the style and aesthetics that she has portrayed in the show. Eloise’s dressing aesthetics reflect her unconventional personality. While she does wear the regency era-appropriate dresses of the time, her style is noticeably less ornate and more practical and functional compared to the other ladies of the ton. In Season 3 however, we can notice some difference in terms of her usual dressing style, where she seems to adapt to more delicate and embellished garments.

Penelope Featherington

Penelope is an underdog in the series. Being highly intelligent, humorous, and independent she actually moonlights as the very infamous “Lady Whistledown“. She has the limelight in Season 3 where she finally settles down with Colin Bridgerton. Penelope’s dressing aesthetics are influenced by her family’s flamboyant sense of style. Her mother often dresses her in bright, bold colors and elaborate designs that are meant to draw attention. Her gowns are typically adorned with excessive ruffles, floral patterns, and vibrant hues such as yellows, oranges, and pinks, which stand out in any social gathering. Season 3 has shown her transition from otherwise bold colors to a more soothing subtle color palette with soft curls which gives her a more appealing look.

Queen Charlotte

Queen Charlotte is a commanding and regal figure, exuding an air of authority and elegance. She has a sharp, witty, and observant nature. Her love for grandeur and opulence is evident in every aspect of her persona. Queen Charlotte’s dressing aesthetics scream royal splendor. She is often seen in lavish gowns made from the finest fabrics, adorned with intricate embroidery, beading, embellishments, and lace. She’s often seen in luxurious colors such as deep purples, golds, and reds, highlighting her status and sophistication. Her hairstyles are very iconic and elaborate.

Lady Danbury

The wisest and possibly one of the most admirable characters of the show, Lady Danbury is just amazing. She is a fiercely independent and confident woman, who commands respect. Her gowns are often made from rich materials such as silk and velvet, adorned with intricate embroidery and elegant embellishments. Deep hues like royal blue, emerald green, and burgundy are her signature.

Edwina Sharma

Edwina has a girl-next-door characteristic trait. She embodies innocence and grace. She also becomes the “Diamond” in Season 2 of Bridgerton because of her maturity and empathy. Her wardrobe features soft, pastel colors such as blush pink, lavender, and sky blue, which highlight her youthful innocence and gentle nature. Her gowns are made from light, flowing fabrics like chiffon and silk, adorned with subtle embroidery and lace detailing. She carries dainty jewelry pieces.

Lady Violet Bridgerton

Lady Violet Bridgerton, the matriarch of the Bridgerton family, is a figure of grace, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to her children. Her dressing aesthetics reflect her status, elegance, and refined taste. Her wardrobe features classic Regency-era gowns crafted from luxurious fabrics such as silk, satin, and velvet. She favors the usual Bridgerton family color palette consisting of soft, muted colors like lavender, soft blue, and sage green, which convey a sense of calm and sophistication.

Francesca Bridgerton

Unlike her other siblings, Francesca is a quieter and more enigmatic member of the Bridgerton family. Season 3 explores her character further and has portrayed a compelling storyline that depicts her inner strength and practicality. Her wardrobe features a palette of soft, muted colors such as pale blue, soft lavender, grey, and delicate cream, which complement her serene personality.

Portia Featherington

Portia is a vibrant and ambitious figure in “Bridgerton.” Known for her determination and social aspirations, she reflects true motherly instincts towards her daughters. Her dressing style is characterized by her love for bold, extravagant fashion choices that reflect her desire to stand out in high society. She frequently wears brightly colored gowns in vivid hues such as oranges, yellows, and pinks, adorned with elaborate patterns, ruffles, and embellishments.
